FACUNDO 2007
Itata
The 10-year-old vineyard that produces our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes is located on the rolling hills of the Bellavista Sector. The soils are of granitic formation, although they have a good percentage of clay (approximately 30%), which in combination with the VIII Region’s climate, gives us fresh wines with very good structure and those coveted graphite tannins.
Production: 7 tons/hectare
Loncomilla
Our Cabernet Franc and Carignan come from sectors of this sub-valley with very different soils but with two conditions in common: the cool climate and dry-farmed vineyards.
The 15-year-old Cabernet Franc is planted on red granitic soils that are 80 cm (31.5 in) deep with degraded rock below. This restricts root growth, balances vine vigor, and delivers higher quality to the wine. The 40-year-old Carignan comes from deeper, sandier soils, which results in tremendously balanced wines.
Production Carignan, 8 ton/ hectare
Production Cabernet Franc, 7 ton/ hectare
Lolol
This warm zone, ideal for producing late-ripening varieties such as Petit Verdot and Carménère, prompted us to take a chance on a vineyard that has resulted in tremendous wines, despite being young. The 4-year-old vineyard is 5 km (3 mi) from the town of Lolol on a hilltop with southern exposure and that receives cool afternoon breezes. The 100% granitic soils allow the vineyard to develop slowly but steadily over time.
Production: 4 tons/hectare
